Syllabus

·         Introduction to petroleum definitions

 

·         Introduction to petroleum properties

 

o    Distillations curves

o    Flash, pour, cloud, aniline and smoke points

o    Octane and cetane numbers

 

·         Defining crude oils in Aspen PLUS and Aspen HYSYS

 

o    Defining assays (Distillations curves, light ends, gravity curves, sulfur content curves)

o    Petroleum cuts and pseudo components

 

·         Distillation units in petroleum refineries

 

o    Some needed backgrounds

o    Introduction to design and simulation of Crude Distillation Units (CDU) using Aspen PLUS and Aspen HYSYS

 

·         Introduction to design and simulation of gas refinery units using Aspen Plus and Aspen HYSYS

o    Gas sweetening unit

o    Sulfur recovery unit

o    Gas dehydration unit
